Sunday Muse

Reflection on Easter Sunday:

26"Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him. 30It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:26-31).

I was reading this verse in church for Easter Sunday at Newsong. The pastor was saying that when we come to Christ, we can come as a "misfit" and with things as addictions, struggles, faults, and mistakes. I definitely needed to be reminded that I can stand before God despite having all of these things. Lately, it's been really hard to feel God's presence or understand His ways. I just feel so out of synch with Him. It's a walk in the desert and I just want to get out it, but I believe that there is a purpose for this; I have no clue what the reasoning is, but I know the lessons are worth it all. This Easter Sunday was a good reminder for me that through it all, I have life in Jesus. His resurrection allows me to have this life. I am basically nothing before God, but He requires simply my heart. He is there for me, and I can reach out anytime I want or desire, but I do have to be in action, not in a passive state.  I know there is stuff in my life that is not right, but I know that God takes these burdens and scars and heals them. With Jesus, I can declare myself alive and filled with His light and joy.
